As the Mayor of our Village and former Police Commissioner, I understand how important a professional and dedicated Police Department is to the quality of our community as a whole. Under Chief Joe Miller’s exemplary leadership, we have been fortunate to recruit and retain a highly professional, dedicated and loyal group of officers and staff to the Police Department. Our Police Department is not just about public safety—our officers stand as role models to our children (through, for example, our highly successful Cadet program) and simply make our community a better place to live. I am very pleased that a group of citizens, led by Reverend Lane Hensley and former Mayor and Police Commissioner Carolyn Baca, have seen fit to recognize the contribution of our Police Department to this community by starting a foundation to supplement the department’s funding for much needed public safety equipment. Aside from the additional funding for police and public safety equipment and the like, I believe that the establishment of the Palos Park Police Foundation is an extremely important demonstration to our police officers and staff of our community’s appreciation and commitment to them. - Mayor John Mahoney
“The Police Foundation is a vital resource for the people of our community to work in a collaborative partnership. It is businesses and individuals working with police officers to enrich and support our community, making it a better place for all. Police departments nationwide are juggling budget cuts and the reality is that cuts can have an impact on our operational abilities. The need for the Police Foundation as a source of private financial support for the PPPD has never been greater. Their work serves as an integral partner in the successes of the Department." - Police Commissioner Dan Polk
“The effort of the Palos Park Police Foundation to build a solid, lasting public-private partnership sends a message to all of our community stakeholders and police officers that the best police service comes when everyone is invited to the table and works in concert with each other.” - Police Chief Joe Miller
